Alia Bhatt takes up an accent as she becomes Gangubai Kathiawadi, President Kamathipura, in the upcoming film’s teaser.
On the occasion of famed director Sanjay Leela Bhasali’s birthday on Wednesday, his production house has launched a teaser of upcoming film Gangubai Kathiawadi, starring Alia Bhatt.
Cutting the long story short, Alia has seemingly entered the Bhasali universe of elaborate sets, beautiful costumes and a lavish production budget. The period film’s sets speak volumes about the kind of work the team has put in to bring the story of Gagubai Kathiawadi, the madam of a brothel in Kamathipura, alive. The movie is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens Of Mumbai.
Alia has also got an accent going on in her role as Gangubai and the film seems dialogue driven with sharp give and take.
Besides Alia, the film also features Ajay Devgn and Vikrant Massey.
The film was scheduled to release on September 11 but got delayed due to lockdown. It now arrives in cinemas on July 30.
